Elise is an associate lawyer with Pushor Mitchell whose practice includes a diverse range of areas, including wills, estate planning and trusts; strategizing and negotiating corporate transactions; drafting commercial agreements; advocating before administrative tribunals; and providing legal advice with respect to local government issues, including land use and development, policy planning, aboriginal relations, regulatory and bylaw compliance, licensing, and submissions at municipal hearings.

Elise is a creative legal thinker whose focus is to provide insightful and cost effective legal services in a manner that is both professional and approachable. Elise augments her business law practice with experience in litigation – having appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia – developing her skills as a negotiator, facilitator, consensus-builder, and overall advocate for her clients.

In addition to her experience at Pushor Mitchell, Elise has acted as in-house counsel for a public educational institution, which involved researching legal issues; drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts; policy drafting; and advising on matters within a wide variety of areas, including: corporate and commercial law, charity law, privacy law, real estate law, employment law, intellectual property law, governance, and regulatory framework and compliance.

Elise received her Juris Doctor from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia in 2014. During law school, Elise worked for the UBC Law Career Services Office; UBC Law Innocence Project; and volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, where she provided legal information to vulnerable women on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Elise moved to Kelowna in 2013 to join Pushor Mitchell as a summer student. She then served as an intern at the British Columbia Provincial Court in Kelowna before returning to the firm to complete her articles.

In 2008, Elise completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and English Literature at Simon Fraser University. During her studies, Elise pursued coursework in Creative Writing and Journalism at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to attending law school, she also worked for a number of years in the hospitality industry where she pursued qualifications with an internationally-recognized wine & spirit education organization.

Away from the office, Elise enjoys backpacking and hiking over multi-day treks, rowing on Lake Okanagan, skipping her curling team and skiing in perfect powder.
