Pushor Mitchell LLP Is Proud to Support BrainTrust Canada as New Co-CEO Announced
BrainTrust Canada is pleased to announce that Mia Burgess has been appointed to the leadership position of Co-CEO. She will share this role with current CEO, Mona Hennenfent, effective May 4th, 2020.
Mia brings a wealth of education and experience to BrainTrust including expertise on policy advising, government relations, advocacy, funding management, communications, media relations and program design and delivery. She has worked with Community Corrections, the John Howard Society, Central Okanagan Foundation and most recently, in the role of Director of Programs at BrainTrust. Mia has a B.A. from UBC and an M.A. in Community Development from the University of Victoria. Raised in Kelowna, Mia is well respected in the community and has strong relationships with leaders in the non-profit, education and government sectors.
Mia Burgess states: “I am committed to building a healthier, more inclusive community for our clients and championing a positive work culture with the dedicated and hard-working staff at BrainTrust.” Mona Hennenfent adds, “I look forward to working alongside Mia as Co-CEO to strengthen our organization and provide the stability that BrainTrust needs during this difficult time.”
The board of director’s recruitment committee, headed by Angela Price-Stephens, brain injury and medical malpractice lawyer, would like to officially welcome Mia into her new leadership role. “Mia is highly committed to our cause, as well as being very strategic, collaborative, innovative and professional.”
BrainTrust Canada is an Okanagan-based, non-profit organization with a mission to bring the issue of brain injury to the forefront, maximize the potential of those who have been affected by brain injury, and reduce preventable brain injury. It was the first of its kind at its inception in 1986, with Paul Mitchell Q. C. being a founding director, remaining on the Board for 25 years. “It is gratifying to see this wonderful organization grow from strength to strength in the hands of such strong leadership,” states Paul Mitchell who specializes in brain injury and medical malpractice.
