Angela Price-Stephens Appointed to the Advisory to Judicial Council Committee
This Committee is an important component of the decision-making process for appointing new Provincial Court judges. The Committee’s task is to assist the Judicial Council of British Columbia assess applicants for the Provincial Court Bench by the provision of detailed, confidential reports on all applicants. These reports are the primary source of information for assessing the suitability of applicants, as well as the primary source of information for deciding whether or not the Judicial Council will grant an interview. Members of this Committee are senior members of the bar who have a minimum of ten years’ experience in their chosen fields.
Of the appointment Angela notes, “The time and effort expended in interviewing references, fact-checking and reporting upon each applicant is considerable and is a direct reflection of the importance of the application process for the applicants, the Council and the public who is ultimately served by the successful applicants.”
