Student Opportunities

The goal of our student articling program is to attract students that will grow with us and become part of our future success.

Our program provides an opportunity for individuals to explore a broad range of both litigation and solicitor’s work during their articling year. We also attempt to take students’ specific areas of interest into consideration for the development of areas of personal legal interest.

Each student is matched with a mentor that meets with the student on a regular basis to provide feedback, review workload, and monitor the student’s exposure to the various areas of law. Lawyers usually assign work directly to students. Students are encouraged to function independently where appropriate based on their comfort level and that of the supervising lawyer. Students also have the opportunity to work with other lawyers on more complex issues to further their practical experience.

We typically hire a couple of articling students each year. Articling applications are accepted throughout the year (the deadline for applications for articles in the following year is April 30th as our hiring decisions are made in late May or early June). We look for people with strong academic qualifications and integrity as well as enthusiasm for the practice of law and a healthy work/life balance.

Student salary and benefits are competitive with firms in the Okanagan. We pay the tuition fees for the Professional Legal Training Course (PLTC) as well as full salary during the course.

We also hire summer students with a strong preference for individuals that are interested in articling with our firm.

If you are interested please provide your resume, transcript of marks and letters of reference in confidence to one of the members of our Articling Committee:
