Support Enforcement

The Department of Justice has posted an online summary of the law on enforcing support orders in Canada. This new portion of the department’s website includes a general overview of the Canadian system of support enforcement, and sections on the applicable Divorce Act provisions, provincial and territorial family support legislation, interjurisdictional support orders legislation and reciprocity agreements, and the Hague Conference on Private International Law (which applies to the international enforcement of support orders).

The website also includes links to provincial and territorial support enforcement programs, and a glossary of terms.
